Turn on Meta's Marketing Messages API
Meta is moving all WhatsApp marketing messages to its Marketing Messages API by October 2027. Accept the terms once and your campaigns get optimised delivery — here's how.
What's changing
Meta is moving every WhatsApp marketing message to its Marketing Messages API:
| Date | What happens |
|---|---|
| 13 April 2027 | New WhatsApp accounts can only send marketing messages through the Marketing Messages API |
| 13 October 2027 | The old route stops accepting marketing messages for everyone |
Service replies, OTPs and order updates are not affected.
Adwix Connect already sends your marketing templates the new way. The only thing Meta needs from you is to accept its terms once.
Accept the terms
- Go to Settings → WhatsApp → Marketing Messages API.
- Click Open WhatsApp Manager, then on the Overview page click Accept terms for the Marketing Messages API.
- Not an admin of your Meta business account? Click Email the invite to my Meta admins instead — Meta emails them a link.
When it's done, the card shows Active. Until then your messages still go out the old way, so nothing stops.
If the card says Add a payment method, your business accepted the terms but Meta needs a valid payment method on the WhatsApp account first. Add one in WhatsApp Manager → Settings → Payment methods.
What you get
- Optimised delivery — Meta prioritises people likely to read and click. Meta's own test in India delivered up to 9% more messages.
- Validity period — when you create a marketing template, set how long WhatsApp keeps trying (12 hours to 30 days), so a flash-sale message never arrives after the sale.
- Automatic creative improvements — optionally let Meta test image filters, a headline pulled from your text or a "30% off" tag, and keep what gets more clicks. Switch it on in the same Settings card, or per template.
- Better reports — in Analytics → Marketing you see optimised vs standard read rates, spend, cost per delivery, link clicks, and purchases or add-to-carts if your website reports them to Meta (Meta Pixel or Conversions API).
Max price
Meta is adding a max price: you choose the most you'll pay per delivered marketing message, and Meta charges that or less. It becomes required for marketing messages in Q2 2027. Adwix switches it on for each account during Meta's rollout. Once it's on:
- In Templates, tap the ₹ button on a marketing template to set or change its max price (leave it empty for the standard rate).
- In Settings → WhatsApp → Marketing Messages API, click Estimate reach & cost to see how many people different prices reach, from Meta's recent data.
- When you create a campaign with that template, you can raise it for a sale day (1.2× or 1.5×) or lower it (0.8×) for that campaign only.
Good to know
- Meta still limits how many marketing messages one person gets, based on how much they engage. Campaigns to people who never read them will see more "not delivered".
- Marketing messages to US numbers are blocked by Meta on every route.
- A new template takes up to 10 minutes to be ready on the Marketing Messages API. If you send straight away, Adwix Connect sends it the standard way instead.
