Send your first broadcast campaign

Send an approved template to many contacts at once — now or on a schedule — and see who received, read and replied.

A campaign sends one approved template to a group of contacts. You'll need an approved template (create one) and some contacts (import them).

Create the campaign

  1. Go to Campaigns and click + New Campaign.
  2. Pick campaign type — choose 📣 Single Send.
  3. What message do you want to send? Give the campaign a name you'll recognise later (e.g. "Diwali Offer 2026") and select the template. Fill in any variables.
  4. What should happen when someone replies? (optional) Set an automatic answer for each quick-reply button, or for any reply.
  5. Who is your audience? Choose one of:
    • a Segment based on chat activity (highly engaged, at risk, winback),
    • 👥 Saved Contacts — search and tick the people you want, or Select All,
    • 📁 Import CSV — upload a file just for this campaign (a phone column with country code; name and tag optional).
  6. When do you want to send it? — Send now, or Schedule for a specific time.
  7. Check the preview and the Campaign Summary, then click Publish.

Track the results

The Campaigns page shows every campaign with Sent, Delivered, Read, Replied, Failed and Success %. Click a campaign to see the status for each contact.

Replies arrive in your Inbox like any other chat — and because the customer wrote back, the 24-hour window is open for a normal conversation.

Why some messages don't deliver

  • The number isn't on WhatsApp — it shows as failed. Clean these out of your list.
  • The person opted out — they replied STOP earlier, so they're skipped.
  • Meta limited marketing messages to that person (error 131049) — WhatsApp caps how many marketing messages each person receives from all businesses. It's not a problem with your account. The 🛡️ Deliverability button on the Campaigns page has settings that help with this.

Drip sequences

Choose 💧 Drip instead of Single Send to send several messages automatically over days — for example a welcome, a reminder two days later, and an offer a week later. Sequences keep running even when you're signed out.

Follow up automatically

When you create a campaign, switch on Follow up automatically to send one more message later:

  1. Choose who gets it — people who read it but didn't reply, who didn't read it, or who didn't reply.
  2. Choose when — 6 hours to 3 days after the campaign.
  3. Pick an approved template (no variable, or one variable that's filled with the customer's name).

Anyone who replied, placed an order or opted out in the meantime is skipped automatically. The follow-up shows up as its own campaign, "Follow-up · your campaign name", with the usual report. You can cancel it from the campaign's insights page until it goes out.
